Heavy Metal Levels

Alfalfa meal is usually low in all heavy metals (below 1ppm). Alfalfa meal should never be a cause of a failed test.

However, one or two brands has been tested above 10ppm of Arsenic and ppm of 12ppm Lead, which could be problematic at high quantities.

This brand of alfalfa meal has extremely low levels that are below the detection limit in lab tests.

Agronomic Use

Alfalfa is typically used as a nitrogen amendment. It is often used in high quantities due to its low nitrogen concentration and slow-releasing nature. Alfalfa is the slowest releasing nitrogen amendment available.

Alfalfa meal contains a powerful growth stimulant called Triacontanol. Triacontanol is a naturally occurring plant growth promoter which can act as a photosynthesis enhancer.

Alfalfa meal contributes significant quantities of Potassium, Silica, and Iron.

Because it is one of the more expensive amendments per unit of nitrogen, we suggest using it for 25% of your nitrogen requirement, giving you the biostimulant benefits without breaking the bank.
