Agronomic Use

Kelp meal is a proven biostimulant that contributes a full spectrum of trace minerals that reflect its oceanic origins. North Atlantic kelp (Ascophylum nodosum) is known to be the best source.

Kelp contributes various phytohormones that influence plant growth. Kelp meal is particularly high in cytokinins, which can increase lateral branching and bud development.

Kelp meal contains significant potassium concentrations, but rarely contributes significant amounts when applied in small quantities. Kelp meal can be high in arsenic, sodium, and chloride, so should be used in moderation.
